Preserving Today, Invested in Tomorrow
I'm a father, scientist, bike commuter and passionate advocate for everyday people.

Meet Jason
Hi! I'm Jason Nguyen (pronounced "win"). I have been part of the Grand Junction community since 2010. My wife and I met here and we recently had a baby boy, June, who is the light of our lives. Becoming a father has been a life-changing experience, and thinking about the type of community my son will grow up in is a primary motivator in my bid for city council.
Professionally, my career has been centered around public service and stewardship. For twelve years I worked as a scientist addressing environmental contamination at nuclear waste sites, and more recently I’ve worked to support renewable and energy efficiency programs throughout the US, which saves people money and enhances local resiliency. Outside of work I have served the community directly on the Urban Trails Committee and the Bike and Pedestrian Master Plan Steering Committee, and by providing public input during numerous city outreach processes. I have also contributed to the local arts by singing in the Western Colorado Chorale and playing trumpet in the Grand Junction Centennial Band. I believe that civic engagement and participation are the foundation of a strong community and that passion is part of what I will bring to Council. I am someone who values facts over ideology, greater good over self-interest and the importance of a long-term perspective in decision-making. On Council, I will take community input seriously, and will thoughtfully consider every decision placed before Council. I am excited at the opportunity to serve our community in a bigger way, shaping a thriving and vibrant Grand Junction for decades to come. -Jason
Here Are My Priorities.

Affordability
Good paying jobs and an affordable city create a foundation for a healthy economy. I believe that maintaining affordability for all citizens - with thoughtful zoning decisions, partnerships with the private sector and investing in our workforce - is key to Grand Junction’s economic strength and resilience.

Strengthening Community
Our community is stronger when our streets are safe, our schools are thriving, and our public spaces are alive. On Council I will support investments that encourage human connection and entrepreneurship. Our small businesses, education centers, places of worship and creative hubs are all essential to our vibrant city.

Public Safety
First responders are the backbone of our city services and we must ensure that they are properly staffed, trained and equipped. And that support alone is not enough - we should also be investing in solutions that address public safety more holistically: behavioral health, early childhood development and general economic prosperity.

Preserving the Spirit of Grand Junction
It’s no secret that Grand Junction is a desirable place to live with our world-class recreation, burgeoning food scene, and vibrant downtown core. As your representative on Council I will be a steward of thoughtful development, embracing our culture of innovation while maintaining the roots of our community.
